Space technologies are key in predicting emergency situations (ES) and combating their impacts. Earth surface monitoring systems allow tracking hurricanes and tsunamis, IoT satellite sensors detect the onset of a fire, and satellite communication systems enable rapid restoration of communication infrastructure destroyed by a natural disaster.

WRC-23 and Specific Aspects of the Satellite Network Regulation

The World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC) will be organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in 2023. Events of such level and extent are held every three to four years to review and, if necessary, revise the Radio Regulations, an international treaty governing the use of the radio frequency spectrum and satellite orbits.
