Participation in the exhibition was a part of Intersputnik's implementation of its policy for developing industry potential and a programme of broad multilateral cooperation with educational institutions in the Asia-Pacific region (APAC), in particular Indonesia, a key player on the satellite market in Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region.
The Indonesia International Education & Training Expo has been held since 1992 and is currently the largest education exhibition in Indonesia, hosting over 50,000 visitors from more than 300 universities annually. Geographically, Indonesia is an archipelagic country consisting of 17,000 islands. Therefore, it extensively uses satellite communication and broadcasting systems. Indonesia's strategic goal to achieve ambitious space development plans by 2045 for sovereignty and economic growth (Plan 2045) arises from this fact. These plans can only be implemented via international cooperation in the field of education.
In July 2025, Intersputnik, boosting its activities in APAC, signed an agreement with the heads of leading technical educational institutions in Indonesia (read more ). "We are sure that the implementation of this agreement and the expansion of existing new ties with leading educational institutions in Indonesia will result in joint projects in the space industry, support for young employees, and training of personnel for satellite industry in the region," said Ksenia Drozdova, Director General of Intersputnik.
As an intergovernmental organization, Intersputnik actively works to train and support human resources in the field of satellite communications in close cooperation with international organizations and educational institutions. Developing cooperation with leading educational institutions in the Asia-Pacific region will result in the development of a new personnel training policy and will be beneficial for the implementation of joint international projects in the space industry.
At its exhibition stand in Jakarta, Intersputnik presented latest developments in the field of human capacity building based on educational programs from the organization's member countries designed to bridge the gap between the "2045" plan and the current shortage of specialists in the region's aerospace and satellite industries. This approach is also consistent with the spirit of another strategic document – the agreement signed in November 2025 with the International Telecommunication Union, aimed at creating a platform for the training and professional development of personnel in the satellite communications and broadcasting industry (read more ).
As another step towards strengthening its partnership with the Indonesian side, Intersputnik in early 2026 signed a memorandum of understanding for developing cooperation in building capacity in space communications with leading higher education institutions of Indonesia: Universitas Telkom, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan and Universitas Islam Indonesia.
