During the joint 54th session of the Board and the 29th session of the Operations Committee of Intersputnik, held in June 2026 on Lake Issyk-Kul (Kyrgyzstan), the photo album Far Beyond Borders: Kyrgyzstan and a film about its creation were presented. The book includes works by young talented photographers from the Organization’s member states: Bulgaria, India, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.

The publication of the book is timed to coincide with the 55th anniversary of the Organization, which will be celebrated in 2026, and is dedicated to one of the Intersputnik member states—the host country for the Organization’s anniversary events. A photo tour of Kyrgyzstan was organised by Intersputnik in October 2025. The photo album published as a result of the trip, vividly and profoundly, accurately and emotionally conveys the national character of Kyrgyzstan, its uniqueness and tribute to folk traditions. It demonstrates the deep and inextricable connection between the past and future of this country. Many of the photos in the album are captioned with quotes from the works of the great Chingiz Aitmatov, a classic of Kyrgyz literature. Along with the photographers’ trip around the country, a film was also shot about the creation of the photo album.

Ksenia Drozdova, Director General of Intersputnik, noted that the tour members were fortunate to see Kyrgyzstan’s greatest treasure: “Four young photographers from Bulgaria, India, Russia and Kyrgyzstan spent a week traveling around the country, communicating with people of different generations and social groups and capturing what we believe is most important—the beauty in simplicity, the strength and love in human sincerity. Each of the photographers saw the richness of the Kyrgyz land and felt its energy in their own way.”

Attendees of Intersputnik’s business events on Lake Issyk-Kul enjoyed a presentation on the Organization’s cultural initiatives implemented between 2023 and 2026. Most of them were carried out as part of the Youth Far Beyond Borders project. The main objective of this project is to support young professionals from Intersputnik member countries. The Organization also supports young artists, sculptors and designers who create works, on the one hand, related to space and, on the other hand, emphasising the national flavour, ethnic aspects and uniqueness of member countries.

Other notable cultural initiatives implemented by Intersputnik include exhibitions of works by young Azerbaijani, Laotian, Cuban and Kyrgyz artists in 2023–2026, publication of the book Colorful Universe: National Traditions and Crafts in 2024, which includes examples of folk art from all member countries, and the carpet weaving encyclopedia Azerbaijani Carpet in 2025, as well as the organisation of a visit to Moscow by Indonesian writer Eki Kurniawan in 2026.
