The teaching activities of the key professionals from Intersputnik are a part of the Organization's long-term programme for training and supporting young personnel for the satellite communications industry.
Andrey Kirillovich
The lectures were attended by bachelor and master students of Economics and Languages of the Global South and Southeast Asia. They have received a unique opportunity to strengthen their competencies in the high-tech field of satellite communications and broadcasting, understand industry regional and national impact and pecularities, as well as to scrutinise the activities of international organisations such as Intersputnik, International Telecommunication Union (ITU), specialised agencies, and other UN system entities to address the digital divide.
As noted by Dr. Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava, Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau, on the occasion of signing a cooperation agreement between Intersputnik and ITU (https://www.intersputnik.int/news-en/intersputnik-and-itu-sign-agreement-on-satcom-capacity-building-), which was aimed at creating a platform for the training and professional development of young personnel in the field of satellite communications, “the shortage of qualified employees is one of the factors hindering the development of modern satellite communications systems”.
Intersputnik, as an element of the global system of international relations, supports ITU initiatives to promote youth in the space industry and implements its proprietary “Youth Far Beyond Borders” project to develop human resources in the Organization's Member States. As part of this activity, Intersputnik interacts with academic and research institutions in various countries, holding lectures, seminars, and other events where key team members of the Organization share their experience with students and young employees. The course of lectures given by Andrey Kirillovich is part of this systematic work. Intersputnik previously organised seminars on the regulation and use of satellite communications to connect remote regions at the International University of Information Technology in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and at the Space Academy in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Intersputnik also initiated and organised the participation of young employees from its Member Countries in the International Astronautical Congresses 2023 and 2024 and major regional exhibitions. A roundtable discussion on the leadership and advancement of young employees was held at the annual NatSatTel conference of Intersputnik. A delegation of young employees from Intersputnik Member States took an active part in the ITU Global Youth Celebration timed to coincide with the opening of the 2025 World Telecommunication Development Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, in the second half of November 2025. The participants in the Organization's youth project received the ITU prize for the most creative team there.
Participants in the Intersputnik's youth project, in addition to gaining knowledge about the satellite communications market and new space technologies, also acquire an inestimable experience of working in international relations and developing international cooperation. This opens up new career prospects within their national telecommunications administrations, as well as industry agencies and satellite communications operators.
