The event was organised by the ITU with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development and Innovative Technologies of the Kyrgyz Republic. It was attended by Azamat Zhamangulov, Minister of Digital Development and Innovative Technologies of the Kyrgyz Republic, Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava, Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau, and representatives of communications market players, financial institutions, academic and research institutions, national telecommunications administrations and international organisations.
The event agenda was focused on digital transformation and development of CIS countries; facilitating the building of partnerships to accelerate the deployment of communications infrastructure and digital technologies; strengthening digital alliances and enhancing international cooperation; implementing ITU regional initiatives for CIS countries; developing infrastructure to promote innovation and partnership in the implementation of new technologies.
Rodion Immel, the Regulatory Matters and International Organisations Liaison Manager at Intersputnik, presented the report “Role of Satellite Communications in the Development of Digital Infrastructure and Building International Cooperation”. In his speech he outlined the role of satellite communications as a coherent element of the digital ecosystem in connecting the unconnected and presented Intersputnik's capabilities to implement satellite projects in remote regions, including CIS countries. Intersputnik also informed the forum attendees about its cooperation with international organisations to support joint initiatives, such as the promotion of young professionals and women in high-tech industries.
Being an international organisation, Intersputnik supports any endeavour and project aimed at strengthening international cooperation in the field of satellite communications to bridge the digital divide and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals defined by the United Nations.
