The primary purpose of the event is to provide employees of national telecommunications administrations and regulatory bodies in African countries with a basic understanding of satellite communications and broadcasting technologies, including their implementation and application, the particulars of regulating satellite networks, and the latest trends in the development of global and regional satellite communications systems.
The seminar will be held online over three days and will consist of three main blocks:
Satellite Systems, Orbits and Frequency Plans;
Ground Segment, Link Budgets and Network Architecture;
Management of the Radio Spectrum, Filings and Interference.
As an international intergovernmental organisation, Intersputnik actively promotes the development of international cooperation in the field of satellite communications worldwide. Africa is a rapidly developing region that faces particular challenges in terms of accelerating infrastructure development. Satellites have traditionally made it possible to set up communications infrastructure within a short timeframe. This explains why this technology is currently receiving so much attention. In this regard, our seminar will enable a wide range of African professionals to learn the fundamentals and principles of building satellite communications networks.
More than 140 satellite communications professionals from 34 African countries — which are Intersputnik and RASCOM Member States — have registered to attend the event. The seminar will be broadcast in two languages: English and French.
The event has been made possible through the cooperation agreement signed by Intersputnik and RASCOM in 2024.
